About Janice
A professional photographer, curator of friendships and committed volunteer, Janice Ann Jones’ love of life did not come to an end with her transition on September 6, 2023 at the age 74. Janice’s legacy of caring and sharing her insight and wisdom will guide her friends and family members for the rest of their lives. Janice was born in St. Joseph Hospital on February 5, 1949, grew up in Pecan Park and attended Mt. Carmel and Stephen F. Austin.
A self made woman
Those who knew Janice recognized that she was a self-made woman. After the death of her photographer husband Bill Jones in 1982, Janice taught herself the art of professional photography while at the same time learning business skills that enabled her to convert award winning photos into cash and still found time to be a committed parent to her son Brian. Janice quickly developed a reputation as an outstanding wedding photographer. During a career that spanned over half a century Janice “shot” more than 1,500 weddings as well as thousands of commercial and family photos.

A dedicated member of our community
Janice was a 27-year member and President of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg, a long-time leader and President of the Professional Photographers Guild, a Director of the Houston City Breakfast Club, an Executive Professional for the Prison Entrepreneurship Program, where she mentored soon-to-be-released prison inmates and a volunteer at Gracewood, a family rescue center. Janice was also an active member of a Buddhist inspired Sangha in Eagle River, Wisconsin, where she and Ken had a home that they retreated to during Houston’s hot summers.

Janice is survived by her husband Ken Stallman, son Brian Jones, daughter-in-law Anna Nguyen, sister Pat Leavesley and nephews Mike and Jeff Seavey. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Carolyn Doran.
