HOUSTON, TEXAS — September 2026 — The Rotary Club of Harrisburg may be a little late, but we certainly did not want August to pass without celebrating our birthday crew! We send our belated birthday wishes to Anaida, James, Taylor, Callie, Carmen, Jorge, and Henry. We hope their August celebrations were filled with happiness, laughter, family, friends, and, of course, cake. Our birthday crew includes current and past members of our Rotary family — because once a Rotarian, always a Rotarian! We also remember Henry on his heavenly birthday and are grateful for the memories and friendship he shared with our Rotary family.
Better late than never — Happy Birthday to our August birthday crew!
Rotarian of the Month, August 2026
The Rotary Club of Harrisburg is proud to recognize Julia Hernandez as our August 2026 Rotarian of the Month.Julia consistently demonstrates the spirit of Service Above Self, always ready to step forward for community projects, scholarship initiatives, and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to our club and the students we serve have made a meaningful impact on Harrisburg Rotary. Congratulations to Julia on this well-deserved recognition! A special thank you to Rex Moran for his creative poem celebrating Julia and her many contributions to our club.
HOUSTON, TEXAS — August 2026 — The Rotary Club of Harrisburg was proud to extend its Back-to-School efforts beyond Houston this year, with backpacks making their way to Valle Hermoso, Mexico, as part of a special family-led back-to-school initiative.
The Vazquez family has organized this annual effort for several years. What began with approximately 20 backpacks has grown steadily, and this year the family was able to provide about 130 backpacks filled with school supplies to local students and teachers.
The need for school supplies is particularly important in Valle Hermoso, where families often help provide materials needed to maintain classrooms, including cleaning supplies. The backpacks provided an opportunity to support students while also contributing to the teachers and schools serving the community.
The Rotary Club of Harrisburg is grateful to the Vazquez family, VICO, our generous donors, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to our annual Back-to-School drive. Their generosity helped make it possible to extend the reach of this project and support students and educators beyond our local community.
We are proud to see the spirit of Rotary and Service Above Self reach across borders.
Stay safe and stay dry!
