BBQ Baked Potato Fundraiser
Eight-month-old Mateo lives in poverty, as do a large number of kids in Guatemala.
Poverty and hardship are the enemies of children. They need love, kindness, education, and a real opportunity to develop and succeed.
This is the reason the Rotary Club of Houston partnered with Heart For Guatemala, as one of our international projects to change the lives of disadvantaged children and their families by providing educational pathways that allow them to redefine their narrative of success and opportunity within their communities. We raised $36,000 quetzals ($4,600 USD) for Heart for Guatemala at our annual BBQ baked potato sale last month.

Golf Tournament 2023
Join us for an incredible day of golf and philanthropy at the Rotary Club of Harrisburg Scholarship Golf Tournament! Taking place on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, at the beautiful Gus Wortham Golf Course in Houston, Texas, this tournament welcomes golfers of all levels to come together for a great cause.
By participating in this tournament, you’ll not only have a fantastic time on the course but also contribute to changing lives in the East end of Houston. The primary objective of our tournament is to raise funds for scholarships that benefit deserving students in Austin, Milby, and Chavez High Schools. hrough the generous support of players like you, the Rotary Club of Harrisburg has already awarded over $835,000 in college scholarships to these students. For many of them, these scholarships have been the key to accessing higher education opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

This Rotarian has seniority
Service above self for 40 years has been his guiding priority.
A faithful servant to the club he has remained,
Given the tasks and duties he has claimed.
He's our man,
Reporting on the Rotary Endowment plan,
not to mention the recipient of numerous awards
For service on numerous Harrisburg Boards.
He stepped up when covid hit and provided the meeting
space.
Getting us back to normal and joining the human race.
And currently he is playing host to the Directors and Jorge,
As well as generously supplying the snacks and beverages
on meeting day.
He has been our go-to guy for the RYLA kids' transportation,
Not lo mention the booking agent for our old Cinco de Mayo celebration.
He's quietly been the guy getting it done, and along the
way knows how to have fun.
He will always be the man with better idea.
And that makes him Rotarian of the Month Rick Garcia
